EMDR Therapy

Trauma Healing & Nervous System Regulation

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or tapping, while you gently bring awareness to memories, emotions, or beliefs that may feel stuck or unresolved.

Before beginning reprocessing, we focus on building a strong foundation of safety and support. Together, we work on developing tools to help you feel grounded, regulated, and emotionally supported throughout the process.

What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a gentle, evidence-based therapy that helps your brain and body process unresolved experiences.

When something overwhelming happens, whether it is a single moment or something repeated over time, it can get stored in the nervous system in a way that still feels present. This can show up as anxiety, shame, emotional reactivity, or a sense of being “stuck.”

EMDR helps your brain reprocess these experiences so they no longer feel as intense, intrusive, or defining.

  • Complex trauma and PTSD
  • Anxiety, panic, and phobias
  • Negative self-beliefs rooted in past experiences
  • Nervous system regulation

EMDR Can Help With:

How it Works

It is not about erasing the past.

It is about changing how it lives inside of you.

Q&A

Do I have to relive my trauma?
No. EMDR does not require you to go into graphic detail. The focus is on how the experience is stored, not on retelling everything.

Will this feel overwhelming?
At times, emotions may come up—but you will have tools and support throughout the process. We move at a pace that prioritizes safety.

How long does EMDR take?
It depends. Some people notice shifts relatively quickly, while others engage in deeper, longer-term work.

What if I don’t have a “big” trauma?
You don’t need a single defining event. EMDR is powerful for more subtle, ongoing experiences—like shame, relational wounds, or feeling not enough.

Do I have to  be in-person to do EMDR?
No. EMDR therapy can be just as effective virtually as it is in person. Sessions can be done from the comfort of your own space, it ultimately comes down to individual preference.
